Chivalry Luminosity is in the middle of a massive arena, in the midst of a melee. The enormous crowd in the stands is cheering, while the screens above the stadium display a bird's eye view of the fight. The whole affair is topped off with the excited yells of a sports commentator, giving the play-by-play of the unfolding events.

There are two fighters left - herself and the Left-Hand Knight. She's at a disadvantage, having trouble getting close, and a single blow from the massive knight's spear nearly dislocates her arm and causes her to buckle. Her opponent demands that she rise, and she steadies herself only to be mocked for seeming just like her "family knighthood" - something struggling for breath. The Left-Hand Knight Tytus seems intent on humiliating her, and the commentator agrees.

Still, the crowd cheers her on. Mostly because there's a massive amount of money being bet on her victory (as one spectator who refers to her as "Nearl" helpfully shouts), but also because of the legacy she represents.

She continues to be beaten down, and Tytus gives Chivalry the chance to forfeit rather than die, since she "does not deserve to be treated as a knight". He recounts all "the Nearl family's new knight's" victories in this tournament, calling them nothing more than luck. He berates her and compares her to another knight who had once defeated him before disarming her. Chivalry continues to block with her shield, desperately analyzing every bit of her opponent's fighting style as it splinters beneath his blows. Eventually, Tytus realizes how she's been able to withstand an hour and a half of being beaten senseless - by passively and silently healing herself with her Arts with enough control to expend barely any energy and keep the effects almost unnoticeable. The commentator mistakes it for raw tenacity, but Tytus lays out her entire strategy -

- and then Chivalry finally solidly blocks his next blow. She notes he's getting tired, hitting a lot less hard than he was, and he resolves to finally finish the fight. He moves faster, quicker, and Chivalry can't keep up. She hears someone telling her to stand up straight, before blacking out.

It's only for a second, and she's immediately back up with a brilliant surge of light bright enough to disorient her opponent. The crowd cheers, and Tytus calls her a pale imitation of her sister, before striking once more - an attack that Chivalry successfully parries.

The fight quickly reverses course, with Chivalry parrying his attacks, slowly evening the fight out, and then -

- the commentator starts talking about the bets, and urging the crowd to cheer for her because of the sheer amount of money on the line, because she only ever had a 0.2% projected chance to win this fight, and despite wanting nothing more than victory she questions what it's even actually worth. Tytus seems to notice, and asks whether she joined the Major for her family, or fame, or money, and Chivalry responds that she did it for herself before reinforcing her shield with light and bashing Tytus with it, knocking him out cold to claim victory.

The loses their absolute fucking shit, and the commentator yells about the thrilling conclusion to the lengthiest (and most expensive!) match of the season.

Notes:

- All instances of "Maria" or "Radiant Knight" are cut out. All "Nearl"s are intact though.
- "I might not compare to my sister, but I'm still a Nearl family knight!"
- TRAGIC HORSE SPORTS
- no wonder she was so chill about hunger games that's just her life actually.
- but with more capitalism somehow?
- She's a member of the Nearl family, which is apparently falling into decline, and seems to be constantly held up to the standard of her older sister, who was a knight before her.
- Despite everyone talking her sister up though, it seems that she won her first tournament with as much struggle as Chivalry has gone through.
- "You fought a radiant fight, Nearl..."
- "The Nearl family has brought us a miracle once again!"
- you ever realize that all your ideals can be boiled down to the amount of money won or lost on a 0.2% bet
- HORSE DUBSTEP
- damn whos that hot single lady in lumi's corner
- someone should notice how well she trained this knight
- her family's rich and famous you know
- did she mention she's single
